slowing it down in the sun

How was you Easter holiday?

We slowed down and enjoyed the incredibly sunny weather we were blessed with (some say the best Easter weather we've had in 50 years).

We visited the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History and painted Easter eggs

We filled easter eggs with chocolate and marzipan and then ate everything while listening to this years radio drama easter crime (Although Astrid believes it was the Easter rabbit who filled the eggs while we were sleeping).

We made roasted shoulder of lamb with aioli which, turned out (in all modesty) fantastic. The lamb was so tender that when we tried to cut into it fell apart. Absolutely the best roasted lamb we've had in a long time and a recipe that I will make more times.

  1. It looks like a wonderful Easter! I smiled at your "in all modesty" -- we should be proud when we do it well, shouldn't we! Your dinner looks delicious!

  3. What a wonderful Easter. Things were a little less eventful here, but we did eat fantastic hot cross buns on Good Friday.

    1. I've read abour cross buns on several blogs this year, I need to find out how that tastes. Less eventful can also be very nice.

    2. I have eaten some I do not like at all, some have been so/so, but the buns at Stella Pastry in San Francisco are my favorite. Hope you find some you enjoy.

    3. Now I am even more curious :-) What in your opinion makes a cross bun good. How should it be (or how should it not be)? What should I look for in a recipe?

    4. I've never baked them. Actually, I bake very little, so I'm not sure how to guide you in baking them, but if you are ever in San Francisco near Easter I'd be happy to meet you at Stella Pastry and buy you a hot cross bun : )

  4. The hot cross buns are lovely! I actually made some this year and whilst the cross didn't quite work out they tasted lovely warmed with butter and jam. They are slightly spicy - with mixed spice and dried fruit - and yummy.

Glad you had a lovely Easter.

  5. Oh I love your photo aesthetic, you have such a unique perspective on day-to-day life. You must have gorgeous photo scrapbooks of your children's childhood. I hope to see some pretty spring flowers in my yard soon!
