This egg collage is part of a photo workshop I am participating in. It is the result of our first assignment; framing an egg. The workshop began March 20th and will last until April 17th. It is my first photo workshop ever.
I am one of those photographers scared to leave the automatic modus. With my analogue camera I knew how to do it, I was not afraid at all. With my N80 I haven’t even figured out how to do it yet *embarrassed*. I need to read the manual.
For these egg photos I decided the shutter speed, while the camera decided the frame size. For our next assignment I will have to do it all by myself. Don’t you think?
You've managed to pick up some really great colours and I love the way you played with cooking the egg in your grid. I need to be more methodical with my "experimenting" on the manual setting. I tend to take lots of photos with all different shutter speeds, frames, exposures and then forget what I've done. Makes it difficult to replicate at a later point!
ReplyDeleteGreat color. So happy!
ReplyDeleteNice mosaic. I concentrated on speed and white balance this first time out.
ReplyDeleteI love th eyellows and yolk picture. I too stick to auto a lot so will join you in learning more about my D60.

Your are the first I've seen that actually cooked the egg. Makes sense -- why didn't I think of that? You can photograph your egg and eat it too! Love the windowsill view.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! A plain white little thing - and look at how lovely it can be. You are talented!!
ReplyDeleteAnne I love your images, your grid is so "clean & simple" your use of negative spaceis very nice. I think your exposure is really good, also intersting to see your differnt lightsources. Neat that you fried the egg the yellow creates such a beautiful contrast. Lovely work you have very creative eye.
ReplyDeleteYour eggs make for a very golden and satisfying morning. I'd like to hang out with them for a while. Really lovely.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a fantastic job. Keep posting your work!
ReplyDeletethe class sounds awesome! and i´m loving this! happy shooting!
ReplyDeletegreat mosaic!!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the pure look of your photos and the fried egg is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your feedback! A special thanks to Camilla for giving me such detailed feedback and for my favourite compliment: "clean & simple".
ReplyDeleteI can also manage to hear what I could work on :-) ...I know I have a lot to learn.
i like the brightness of all your photos together. individually they are composed so beautifully. love your work.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your grid!! The cooked egg is wonderful..a nice touch of yellow in the grid! That egg carton is wonderful too!
ReplyDeleteYour exposure looks great! I love the look of your mosaic with those peeks of yellow!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! I'm so impressed with you actually breaking the egg and frying it :-) Silly how that never even entered my mind! (not that I didn't eat it, but that was off-camera!) Lots of light in your images - makes me feel light too :-) & your grid is very nicely balanced!
ReplyDeleteSomething about the yellow in the grid adds so much to the simplicity of it all. Yay for cooking your egg and taking pictures of it!
ReplyDeleteYou are one of very few people who actually BROKE their egg open! Very nice work, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThose shots have very lovely subtle lighting and great composition. Like you, I always used manual settings on my film camera but seem to revert to auto mode a lot on my digital camera, too, especially when in a hurry. I need to read my manual, too, but those things are so dang boring. I bought a field guide for my Nikon but it's boring, too! Anyway, your shots are great and yours are the first I've come to where the egg has finally been cracked open!
ReplyDeleteA note: The egg is actually not fried. It is raw on a white plate.
ReplyDeletethe yellow SO rocks!
ReplyDeleteWow - these are really good. Like everyone else, I am verklempt over the yolk pictures. They are all great (Like the one with the stamp showing, too) but the yellow of the yolk is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI'm just beginning to try to manage all the settings manually. You seem to have done a great job with these. Love the cooking yolk especially.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful mosaic! Yellow goes well with eggs...
ReplyDeleteI think you did a fabulous job...what a great mosaic~
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots!! These photos of egg yolk make me apptite...
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a great weekend!
Wonderful cropping and framing of your subject here...and I LOVe that you showed us the finished product (ie. the cracked egg insides). My fav part of your collage is the top right and bottom left cropped pics.

I love your egg frame, happy Easter holiday! And regarding shooting in manual - once you've started, you won't stop. It's so much easier to get the result you want.
ReplyDeletei am right there with you, learning a little bit more about how to get out of auto mode. such a great thing. you captured the essence of the yolk so well. i haven't seen that so far! and yeah, the yellow and white theme is lovely and so springy! so nice to have a reason to come check out your blog!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous grid.
ReplyDeleteand certainly the most delicious of the lot!
the vividness of the yellow makes me smile.
Ha ha...yep, I will try it too! No auto...
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures and the yellow :)
Nice to meet you!
I love the egg shots! I particularly like the ones with the yolks. Adding colour to the egg. I would love to learn how to take a proper photo - I love framing shots but never have the patience to actually learn how to take a good photo - considering the light etc.
ReplyDeleteHi Anne Marie,
ReplyDeleteAmazing how you managed the whole assignment in one grid. Beautiful photos and color theme!
What a fantastic blog.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photographs.
Compliments!
Geniales! Cuanto da de si un simple huevo cuando se tiene imaginación! :)
ReplyDeleteFunny, I was just looking at the expensive camera I had to have. I've owned it for over a month and have not yet even used it. Talk about embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteI do, however, pull out my tiny little Nikon point and shoot and capture things everywhere I go. Too bad my new Canon won't fit in my pocket!
(I love your egg pix)
i'm lazy with my camera too.....
ReplyDeletethese shots are great ! [and yay for learning more in photoshop!]
