The mini sweater I began knitting in October is almost done. I am definitely in a serious stripe phase. I just love stripes, both knitting them and how they make a garment look.

The downside to stripes is the binding off. Now the fun begins…

Autumn colours are so beautiful. And this fall we have been blessed with lots of sunny days and only a few rainy ones. The air is getting crisper and you can smell the lit fireplaces through the chimneys. I love that smell.

I am taking advantage of all the sun there is by taking my knitting outside in the garden. This summer was quite rainy and we couldn’t enjoy our garden as much as we would like to. So I am catching up. I’ve got a woollen blanket under by bum and a soft pillow in my back and life is just perfect.

Oh my how time flew. At the same time it didn't. I had no intention of being silent for so long. But then again, sometimes silence is needed

These last two months the urge to write has presented itself. Still silly small things kept me from it. Like my blog header, the changes here on blogspot (yes, that's how long I have been away), my computer going bananas, and my camera being for repair.

Every day life is taking it's time, so I am unsure how often I will write. Sometimes everyday life is fun, other times not so fun. But what can I tell you that you don't already know, right? *smile*

Knitting is still lots of fun. And so is sewing even if I it's been ages since I sat in front of the sewing machine. These are some of the projects that were on my needles while I was away.

It is storming outside. Raining cats and dogs. The trees are bending to the wind, all in the same rythm. I am home today with Astrid who is suffering from an ear infection and her fifth day of fever.

The wool has come out of its hiding place. It is time to let those needles find their own tune again and make warm gifts for the people that form part of our life.

garden glimpses

After Sally’s comment last post I have been searching for photos from our garden. I never meant to tease you. I am sure I took some this summer, but the photos are nowhere to be found.

It will have to do with some glimpses from about a month ago. Autumns colours dominates and the sun is getting low, but you still get the feel of how our little but cozy garden is.

PS. We even have an apple tree *joy*!
And the neighbours let us go picking plums from their tree *double joy*

Starting to get there

i love my new kitchen

At least for now most of the main work on the house is done. We have several details left, but can't do them all at once. One detail is for instance to put up paintings and photos on the wall. Somehow i am in no hurry. After all the work and money we have spent on the walls i am terrified to make holes in the wall. In case we make one and regret it.

The stair colour we chose

My anxiety of making holes in the wall actually reminds of my anxiety for cutting into new fabrics. But we can’t live a lifetime with bare walls, so sooner or later we will have to bring out the hammer and nails.

The plan is to frame all our chosen photos and posters put them on the floor (no nails required), and then see if a hanging on the wall pattern reveals itself to us. What do you think? Does it sound like a plan?
